It’s officially been over a year since our world has become quite….uncertain. A year of craziness, loss, sickness, and more. As a society, we are leaning on each other (metaphorically) more than ever before. We’re working to pull through this and enjoy one another’s company as we are able to.
For me personally, this year has been a big one. I became recently engaged, unemployed, graduated from college, and now currently, in a mix of jumping back into corporate life, running a small business, and of course, wedding planning.
Through this time, my circle has become very small. I say this as someone who’s always had a smaller circle to begin with, but, nonetheless, the people I see in person nowadays can still be counted on one hand. I’ve relied on texts, emails, Facetime calls, and even snail mail, to connect with the ones I love and send some positivity their way.
Right now, I’m taking a moment to reflect on this close circle I’ve developed. These are the people that even “after COVID”, I will spend the bulk of my time with. I think that’s the most beautiful thing that’s come out of all of this. I no longer feel obligated to constantly show up at places I don’t want to be, or go to events that give me anxiety.
I feel secure in choosing how to spend my time, which is a feeling I don’t think I’ve felt since high school.
As I was browsing Hallmark’s site the other day, I came across the most adorable mini cards. They caught my attention because they’re smaller than regular cards, and SO CUTE! I ended up getting a bunch of them, with one mission in mind. These cards are smaller, come with envelopes, but must be hand delivered.
Seeing this brought a smile to my face! I knew that this would be the perfect gift to give my best friend Hannah, my sisters and the rest of my bridesmaids. I carefully picked out a mini card for each of them (based on their style!) and I have them tucked away in my desk until next time I see them. They’re also the perfect size to put a gift card in, so I’m going to grab some gift cards too and treat my bridesmaids to some coffee!
Before logging off the Hallmark site, I couldn’t help but also come across the most adorable french bulldog card….so you already know I grabbed a couple of those as well! I wanted to buy a couple regular sized cards, to challenge myself to send them in the mail to someone I love. (I say challenge, because I do this often, and I’m starting to think I might run out of new people here soon!)
